I have to give a quick shout out to my sister who corrected something I said in a previous post. She made me aware that she did NOT follow behind the cop car with our mom when I was taken to the ER. Instead, she rode in the cop car with me because as she said " you kicked and screamed and refused to go if I didn't ride with you". Not that I really had a choice to go or not, however it was probably to go in cuffs or to go out of cuffs, so thank you to my big sis and it was on the eve of her 21st birthday. I have to give credit where credit is due! I told you this was a fuzzy time period in my mind.
Mental Illness does not define someone! It's nothing more than a diagnosis. Bipolar Disorder is an illness I have; it in no way defines who I am! There are so many things in my life that define me; Bipolar is not one of them! There is a huge stigma that society attaches to mental illness. For someone to feel ashamed of an illness they have due to society’s misconceptions is in no way acceptable. Read about my own personal experiences with Bipolar Disorder and join me in KISSING STIGMA GOODBYE!
